How to do Laundry
in 6 easy steps
Mastering laundry is a key life skill that keeps your clothes fresh and extends their lifespan. Here's a simple guide to help you tackle laundry like a pro:
1. Sort Your Clothes:
Colors: Separate whites, lights, and darks. This makes sure that your light clohes don’t turn gray or pink!
2. Check Pockets and Stains:
Empty Pockets: Loose change can damage the washing machine, and some things left in the pockets can damage your clothes
Treat Stains: Apply stain remover to any spots before washing.
3. Load the Washer:
Don't Overload: Fill the washing machine ¾ of the way full – if it is packed tight, your clothes won’t get clean!
Add Detergent: Use the recommended amount of detergent; too much can leave soap in your clothes and too little won’t get them clean.
4. Choose the Right Settings:
Water Temperature & Cycle: Use cold water for darks and warm or hot for whites. Most machines today have a standard cycle you can use for all loads if you are not sure how to set it.
5. Dry Your Clothes:
Dryer: Use the correct heat setting; high heat can shrink clothes.
Air Dry: For delicates, air drying is best.
6. Fold and Store:
Fold Promptly: Fold clothes soon after drying to prevent wrinkles.
